150th Anniversary Programme

This year we will be celebrating our 150th anniversary in the summer months.  The actual dedication was in mid June in 1863, so most of our events are organized around the June period.

Although we will celebrate our dedication with prayer, music and thanksgiving, we do not forget that St John’s is in the heart of Burgess Hill and we actively involve the community just as much as our own congregation. What better excuse is there to involve the residents, schools and the business community in our celebrations?

The anniversary programme is now available from the church, the Help Point in Church Walk and in several High Street businesses. It is also published on this web site. Please click on the link, 150th Anniversary Programme. Please take time to peruse it and come along to the concerts, talks and services.

Elin Manathan Thomas, who sang at the Paralympic’s closing ceremony, is joining us with Robert Davies, one of theUK’s finest baritones for an evening of British song.

The concert on the 8th June is very special as well because the Brighton Welsh Male Voice Choir is performing a medley of popular songs. Also ‘world famous’ percussionist, Sarah Mason, is joining the concert, so we promise a very entertaining evening.

Other events include the Mid Sussex Brass Band, Burgess Hill Girls School choir, Sussex Harmony, 3 day flower festival, celebration of marriage service and St John’s excellent choir and organ music evening.

For young people we have organized a Victorian tea party; the details are in the programme.
